Lost Cities 04 - Antonio's story outline
Waking up from a nightmare, Antonio began to recover. The stupor was difficult to overcome, but he could already perceive the outside world. He heard the sound of a bell in the distance. He thought: How interesting, they haven’t rang the bell in a long time. Since the old priest left. It’s like a huge stone is sitting on his eyes. He tried to recover. His uncertain thoughts searched for something to hold on to.
When did you fall asleep? Why is waking up so difficult? The last thing he remembered was not the evening. Then he was suddenly filled with a terrible fear. He remembered everything. The huge shaking, the screams and the strange sound next to it, as if it was screeching with some elemental force.
His eyes widened and despair overcame him. What about the family? And what happened anyway? A strange mist filled the room. The room? But where am I? His confused thoughts were spinning at incredible speed. He struggled to his feet to look around. Then he realized that he had been lying on the floor until now. Then He set off in this strange fog and …. He didn’t understand anything. Everything was surreal. The fog, the muffled noises and still that bell.
The outline of a door loomed in front of him, so he headed for it. He stepped out the door and stopped. He still didn’t understand anything. The fog slowly began to dissipate. He went down the stairs. It was standing in front of his house, that’s for sure. He recognized familiar details. The neighbor’s wall on the right was nowhere to be found, on the other side the street continued with only a ruined wall. He looked back at the house and was shocked to see that it was completely intact. In a surreal way, the air completely cleared, but only around the house. He remembered his family again. They were at the mother-in-law’s across the road for a birthday. He already remembered. He only ran back to the house for a sweater for his wife.
He took hesitant steps towards the other side of the road, which was covered by an impenetrable fog. Then he stopped and collapsed in despair. It was no more. The other side of the road no longer existed. Only misty depths and nothingness looked back at him.
